Women’s Swim and Beachwear Trends for 2013

Headed to Myrtle Beach for a vacation this summer? There’s really no better excuse for picking up a new swimsuit. It’s never too early to start shopping, and to help you find a suit you’ll love showing off on the beach this summer, we pulled together a few ideas for what’s on-trend in swimwear this summer.

This 80s staple is back in a big way, and it’s showing up everywhere, including swimwear. Look for electric lime, glowing pink and nuclear yellow. And this isn’t just a look for the young and adventurous! If you’re nervous about going all-out on a hot pink suit, look for accents and pops of neon, or pair a white bathing suit with a wrap with neon accents. You’ll love the way your tan looks against the white and bright colors.

Graphic Prints
Dainty florals and delicate details aren’t as hot this year as big, graphic prints. Look for oversized geometric prints and florals, kaleidoscopes of color and the still-popular zigzag or chevron print.

The great thing about retro suits is that they’re often more forgiving and better suited to fuller-figures than slinky string bikinis, bandeau tops or the dreaded love-handle show also known as the monokini.

Many retro-styled suits feature a lower cut leg, thicker straps and even push-up styling. The bikini bottoms may also have a higher waist. These suits are classic in solids like red and navy blue, and especially great in polka dots. Obviously, pairing this look with big sunglasses is a must.

The dip-dyed look of ombre is still popular, especially among the younger set, so look for bikinis and suits that bear the signature gradated color look of ombre.

Lemon and Grayed Jade
Two huge colors this season: Lemon yellow and the 2013 Pantone official color of 2013, grayed jade. These two colors have been showing up everywhere from the high-fashion runways to the more affordable racks of the Gap and Target.
