At Pirates Voyage in Myrtle Beach, every day is Talk Like A Pirate Day not just once a year.
From the customer service representatives to the swashbucklers featured in the production, Pirates Voyage is a place where chatting like a buccaneer is always cool, matey.
The $11 million presentation not only features sea adventurers but also acrobats and trained animals, including dogs, exotic birds and sea lions. The cast is comprised of more than 24 divers, dancers, singers and aerialists performing in a 30,000 square foot arena with a 15-foot deep indoor lagoon.
Three pirate ships are in the show, in which the Crimson and Sapphire pirates fight each other on deck, in the water and while sailing through the air performing acrobatic stunts. Mermaids are on deck, too, as they swim below and delicately dangle from anchors hoisted up high.
Pirates Voyage, which debuted June 3, 2011, will have a $1.5 million special effects show for the holiday season when the adventure takes on a Christmas theme. Christmas at Pirates Voyage, held November through early January, is a production that allows Captain Scrooge to travel through time on visits to Buccaneer Bay. A live Nativity is also a part of the theatrical extravaganza chronicling how the grumpy, pessimistic Captain Scrooge changes for the better.
While having fun, people feast. Each audience member chows down on creamy vegetable soup, bread, half of a roasted chicken, barbecue pork, corn on the cob, mashed potatoes, an apple pie and beverage of choice. A vegetarian option is available as well.
